For State Representative, District 47
Once again this is being discussed in our legislature. Let me make it perfectly clear on where I stand, NO to drilling off any part of Florida's coastline whatsoever. This will NOT save you money at the pump, but it will save the Republican legislature's by plugging their $2.1 BILLION budget shortfall in the coming sessions by selling out Floridians to Oil Companies.
This has become a turf war as Wall Street run Health Care has started to see the writing on the wall. The majority of Floridians want Health Care reform and this proposed state amendment would eliminate medicare for the retired, children programs, and veteran benefits since they are considered Federal Health Care programs. These Republicans are playing politics with peoples lives and we need to take a stand.
Hillsborough Commissioners are playing politics at the expense of the well being of the community, $100,000 may not seem like a lot to them but it is money that could go to help needed programs that are suffering. They can keep the 24 cents that they just saved me, but I am glad that they can say they continue the 16 year streak of lowering the millage rate, I am sure that this will comfort those affected.
